'Fit high-security locks to cut home insurance premiums'

Savvy homeowners who live in high-crime areas can still cut their
home insurance premiums by following a few simple guidelines, it
has been claimed.
According to research from LV=, burglary and theft cost UK
residents around £2.8 billion per year.
However, the insurer adds, despite this worrying statistic some 15
million Brits leave themselves at risk of theft by failing to
undertake a few simple measures.
These might include fitting high security locks, which can help cut
insurance premiums even in areas with a high crime rate, Emma
Hoyler of LV= said.
She explained: "Your home insurance premium is rated on a number of
factors, the likelihood of getting burgled is clearly a big factor
in that, and that is driven by your postcode."
"So, if you do live in an area where there is high crime and high
theft rates, there's various steps you can take, such as taking
extra security precautions, putting deadlocks on your doors."
