Hips 'will benefit market in the long-term,'claims Ahipp

The Association of Home Information Pack Providers (Ahipp) has
moved once again to defend home information packs (Hips), in the
week they came in for heavy criticism.
Earlier this week, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
(Rics) said that the introduction of Hips was having a deleterious
effect on the housing market.
In particular, Rics claimed that the extra expense of Hips was
harmful to first time buyers and that their introduction was
squeezing housing supply.
However, according to Ahipp, the packs will only show their benefit
once they have been rolled out to all properties.
Paul Broadhead, deputy director general of the organisation, said:
"Despite government delays in the rollout of one and two bedroom
properties, pack providers continue to deliver packs in an
efficient and professional manner to consumers.
"More than ever, we are keen, along with our members to push
forward with the full rollout of Hips and deliver real benefits to
first-time buyers and, again, I would urge the government to
implement this as soon as possible."
