Property owners urged to consider insurance for Christmas

British homeowners have been warned that the contents of their
properties could be at risk over the Christmas period, particularly
if they do not have adequate insurance.
According to a survey from M&S Money, 39 per cent of
householders keep expensive presents underneath the Christmas tree,
despite the increase in domestic burglaries over the festive
period.
In addition, the poll discovered that only 20 per cent of people
are "very confident" about what is covered under the terms of their
home insurance policies.
According to M&S, just 7.5 per cent of available home insurance
policies provide unlimited cover for the contents of a home.
"Christmas should be a fun time of the year," said David Wells,
head of insurance at M&S.
"By making sure you have adequate home insurance you can enjoy
festivities in the knowledge that the contents of your home are
protected."
A recent report from Aviva stated that British homes are 22 per
cent more likely to be broken into on December 31st than on an
average day.
