A very spacious, 5 bedroom detached chalet bungalow in a delightful, semi-rural location, hidden away in the little village of Alfington between Ottery St Mary and Honiton.
NO ONWARD CHAIN.
Alfington is a small village approximately a mile and a half from the historic town of Ottery St Mary with it's stunning collegiate church, shops and facilities for almost every need. One of the most popular small towns in Devon, Ottery boasts the excellent Kings School, a good medical centre, a large supermarket, and a variety of clubs including cricket and football. It is home to the world famous Tar Barrels championships which are held once a year on Guy Fawkes night. Despite the property being tucked away down Mill Lane in a very peaceful location, Alfington has great transport links making it a perfect home for commuters and families. There is a half hourly bus service, access to the A30 is less than a mile away, and there are railway stations on the Waterloo main line at Feniton and Honiton less than a 10 minute drive away.
Approached from narrow Mill Lane, Tolcarne is at the end of a private drive which is shared with two other properties. This property which was originally built in the 1960s as a bungalow, has been extended upwards more recently to create a large house, ideal for a family. The extensive accommodation includes 5 bedrooms, two of which are upstairs, an en suite shower room plus two bathrooms, a well proportioned living room with doors out to the garden, large kitchen, and a conservatory/utility room. The layout of the property allows for some easy internal alterations to suit a buyer's needs. The first floor bathroom could become an en suite and one of the downstairs bedrooms is already used as a gym. The conservatory could be upgraded to a family room or large office. Central heating is oil fired and the living room has an open fireplace.
The gardens are large and level, and almost entirely laid to lawn, making them ideal for families and summer barbecues in the sun. There are lovely views from the main bedroom upstairs across the countryside to the Blackdown Hills.
There is parking for numerous vehicles in front of the house and more if part of the front garden is used. We understand that there is planning permission to replace the current single garage with a double garage.
All in all this is a delightful family home in a location where properties do not often come up for sale.
From Exeter, proceed along the A30 towards Honiton. Continue on the A30 past the Daisymount exit for Ottery St Mary. After about a mile, turn off at the minor exit signposted Feniton, then follow signs to Fenny Bridges. Drive through Fenny Bridges, then turn right signposted Alfington and Ottery St Mary. On entering Alfington, Mill Lane will be seen immediately past the first row of cottages on the right. Take the second turning left down Mill Lane and the property will be found at the end of the concrete track.
